Ouse Muse is Bedford’s premier regular poetry open mic evening. We are now generally the third Wednesday night of the month. Each event has one or more guest readers but there is always plenty of open mic time – sign up from 7.30pm if you want to perform. The cost is £5 audience £4 if performing/entitled to some other concession – except the March date which will be FREE. So here are the dates and guests for January-June 2019.
Jan 16 Pam Thompson (Iain Colville supporting)
Feb 20th John and Suzanne Godfrey (Sue insists she’s supporting John but I see it more as equal billing!)
Mar 20 Special Event Ian McEwen and Lisa Kelly launch new pamphlets (n.b at the Ent Shed) FREE and a glass of prosecco too, with open mic as usual.
Apr 17 Robert Peake (support TBA)
May 15 Neil Beardmore supported by Roger Stone – profits to Prebend St Shelter (if there are any) at the Ent Shed
June 19 John Greening (Support TBA)
We take a break in July but never fear Ouse Muse will return in August.
Most events will be downstairs at the Auction Room bar, 1 Duke St, Bedford, MK40 3HD, starting at 7.45pm. But note that March and May will be at the Ent Shed on Castle Rd (attached to the Gordon Arms) which is larger and a fully accessible venue. Please come and see us!
We also get involved with all sorts of other poetry-related stuff in Bedford including our occasional slam series BedSlam! and events in co-operation with the Library service. Visit Ouse Muse on Facebook to find our latest events and updates or sign up to our email list for a full list of upcoming poetry events within a thirty minute drive of the Bedford area (and a few further afield).
